May Meditation

School is about to be out, work is driving you bananas, and you really just want to “chillax” and prepare yourself for what’s to come. Take this time to meditate. Here are a few simple ways to get you in the right head space and help you really prepare for the adventure ahead.

PLACEMENT -

Find a good, clean space with minimal distractions where you can simply sit in peace. If there is too much clutter around you, it will distract you and that’s a no-no. When you find your space, sit down, close your eyes and take a deep, slow breath.

BREATHE –

Now that you’re in a calm area, this is the time to practice “box breathing”. Slowly breathe in for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds, exhale for 4 seconds and hold for 4 seconds. Breathing this way will help you really tune in to your head space and help center you both mentally and physically.

MANTRA –

If you have a mantra, think about that during your breathing exercise. That will also help center you and get you back on track. If you don’t have a mantra, here’s a simple one: “I will have a good day because it’s MY choice.”

Now that you’ve found your calm space, practiced your “box breathing” and repeated your mantra, you should feel a sense of relaxation.
