Celebrate Differences

I was in my car driving to work thinking about my next Muse Project articles. I work downtown and often see many people walking to and from their office buildings, as I’m stopped at a traffic light, I look to my right and see a middle-aged woman dressed in light blue jeans, a long-sleeve floral top, super cute shoes and I notice on her face she has quite the pigmentation difference, a form of albinism, most likely. That got me thinking about how her life growing up was probably filled with struggles, having to deal with all kinds of looks and chatter, likely even bullying. I decided then and there to write about differences in those around us and encourage our readers to really celebrate each other’s differences. After all, like they say, if we were all the same it would be a pretty boring world.

April Showers Bring May Flowers

“April Showers bring May Flowers” is such a common phrase, but where was this saying started? Does it hold any truth to it?

The infamous saying is credited to an English Poet from the 1500s, Thomas Tusser. The original line was “Sweet April do spring May flowers.” In England, the weather shifts during the month of April, bringing of course “April showers.”

This is the same for the U.S. - some locations in the continental U.S. can see up to 3 inches of rainfall in April.

So as the rain keeps you inside this April, be grateful as those May flowers are soon to be on their way!
